Pregnancy is a part of a happy married life. A healthy child would be a desire. However, in certain
cases, due to lack of knowledge there are pregnant women who are infected TORCH. As a result, it can cause the baby is born defective, incomplete or infant mortality. TORCH What exactly is it?

  • TORCH 
          TORCH is an acronym of some infectious diseases would be dangerous innate to the fetus if a pregnant woman suffered. These diseases would easily infect the fetus in the womb of a pregnant mother. Diseases that are part of the TORCH consists of several viruses and bacteria. TORCH is an acronym which if some disease is described as follows:

  1. T: Toxoplasmosis or Toxoplasma gondii. 
  2. O: Other infections or other infections such as Hepatitis B, Syphilis, Varicella-Zoster Virus, HIV, and parvovirus B19.
  3. R: Rubella or in the Indonesian language known as Rubella or German Measles.
  4. C: Cytomegalovirus otherwise known as cytomegalovirus or human herpesvirus 5.  
  5. H: Herpes simplex virus or herpes simplex virus.  
         Another acronym like the TORCHES, which stands for Toxoplasmosis, Rubella, Cytomegalovirus, Herpes simplex, and syphilis. 




  •  Toxoplasmosis

    Cause: The disease is often associated with cats or dogs as the cause. The cause of this disease is the name of the Toxoplasma gondii parasite that generally live on mammals such as dogs and cats.

    Transmission: The parasite will come out with a dog or cat feces. Through this dirt can eventually attacked humans. Another is through the deployment of flies, cockroaches or other insects that descend the dirt and stick to foods that have been cooked or when the vegetables are not cooked properly can be transmitted to humans. Can also be spread through undercooked meat during processing.

    Effect: The fetus is infected with the disease can lead to miscarriage or stillbirth. Can also cause abnormalities in infants and adults.
  • Rubella

    Cause: Also known as German measles. A person infected with the disease is characterized by a rash on the body, muscle aches, fever (though not always accompanies this disease infection) and the presence of enlarged lymph nodes.

    Transmission: Media transmission through respiratory, saliva, sweat, blood or sexual contact of rubella patients. So, for pregnant women, should keep his distance when there are friends or relatives who are suffering from rubella or German measles to avoid contagion.

    Effect: The disease is more dangerous if suffered by women pregnancy young age, especially in the first trimester of pregnancy. It can be experienced by the baby if the mother is infected babies are born with disabilities or suffering from disorders such as brain damage, blindness, deaf or mute. 
  • Cytomegalovirus (CMV)

    Cause: Caused by cytomegalo virus.

    Effect: If the infection experienced by pregnant women, then the baby at risk of suffering from enlargement of the head, brain calcification, enlargement of the liver, deaf, or the shape of the feet and hands that are not normal. 
  • Herpes simplex type II

    Cause: Herpes is divided into 2 types, while harmful to pregnant women is a type of herpes simplex type II (HSV II). This infection attacks the genitals. Signs of a person infected with this disease are white or spots appear on the genitals.

    Transmission: Transmission is through direct or indirect contact with other sufferers. Can also be transmitted through sexual contact.

    Effect: Babies born to mothers infected with this disease can suffer from abnormalities in the skin, the skin is blistered. 
  • Preventing TORCH

              Given the dangers of TORCH for pregnant women, those of you who are planning a pregnancy or who are currently pregnant, consider the following suggestions so that your baby can be born with good and perfect.
    • Eating a nutritious diet

    •  Perform tests before pregnancy
